HIBS Football

Sign-up forms have all been collected in for the senior (15th grade and above) teams at HIBS. If you have not yet signed up and would still like to trial for one of the senior teams you must see Mr Lawrence as soon as possible. The trials dates are listed below.

Please note that HIBS can only offer Saturday football for those students born in 1995 or before. All other players should be registering and trialling for their local clubs. This is a College Sport and Capital Football decision rather than a HIBS one and we are bound by it.

Once again numbers are high and we should be able to field 4 senior teams plus two teams in the College Sport Wellington Under 15 competition. The season commences at the start of term 2.

Managers and Coaches of this year's teams are:

• First XI- Mr Bailey (manager) and Ben Keat (coach)
• Second XI- Mr McGeechan (manager and coach)
• Third XI- Mr Hoeksma (manager/coach) and Mr Jegousse (assistant manager/coach) parent helper tbc
• Fourth XI- Mr Gunatunga (manager and coach) Parent helper tbc

Junior A (15th grade)- Dean Waddington (coach) plus Mrs Smith (manager)

• Junior B (15th grade) –Alex Austin (coach) plus Mr Calitz (manager)

All the above teams play on Saturday- 15th grade kick off usually at 9:00, Senior First XI 11:00am and others can vary 11:00am, 1:00pm or 2:30pm.

• Year 7 and 8 A team- Trevor Lawrence (coach/manager senior student helper tbc)
• Year 7 and 8 B team – Cath Nota with a senior student

The Year 7 and 8 teams will play five school fixtures during normal school hours which will be confirmed by Mr Brennan. HIBS will not be attending the AIMS games this year.

Though some teacher/managers and coaches choose to attend games on a Saturday some are unable to due to their own family commitments. In this situation a parent must come forward to run the team on a Saturday. Once the teams are finalised we will need volunteers to come forward.

Trials are as follows:

Monday March 1 st – Senior First and Second XI trial (week 5)

Monday March 8 th- Junior A and B trial. All students born in 1995 (week 6)

Monday March 15 th- Senior Second and Third XI trial (week 7)

Monday March 22 nd- Senior Third/Fourth XI trial (week 8)

You MUST see Mr Lawrence or drop him a note/message if you are unable to attend the trials and still wish to be considered.

Year 7 and 8 teams will not be trialled until the start of term 2.
